Distribution Methods
Event Farm has the most ticket/invitation distribution methods on the market. Why do you care? Because it makes your job as an event manager easier and more importantly, the more ways you can make tickets available, the more ability you have to maximize your crowd and ensure your targeted audience attends your event.
TICKET BLOCKSM Distribution
Event Farm provides a service where you can farm out the bundles of tickets or invitations that you owe to your sponsors or partner organizations with our TICKET BLOCKSM distribution service. By being associated with your event they get their own Event Farm account and can manage their own tickets and invitations, and at the same time you can track their progress.
SIMPLE PAYMENT PROCESSING
Simple Payment Processing
If you'd like to sell tickets through Event Farm simply create tickets and make them available for purchase. Your Event Farm merchant account is created immediately and gives you access to and control over your event earnings. We can also plug into your existing Paypal or merchant account.
Registration Questions
Need information from your guests before they arrive at your event? You can write registration questions that guests must answer when they get tickets. They can let you know in a free-response that they are vegetarian experimenting as a vegan, or you can reign them in with a short selection of multiple choice answers written by you. In which case they'll probably select the seasonal salad.

Our Story

In 2007 we set out to solve our guest registration challenges. Now we are dedicated to helping guest registration evolve and improve the process for planners and guests.
Consistent with the name, Event Farm's creation was very organic. You'll probably be relieved to hear that we are actually event producers ourselves. We've been in your shoes many times and Event Farm actually grew out of our struggles with ticketing and guest registrations at our own events. Rooted in Washington, DC we found ourselves faced with significant ticketing challenges as selling tickets was just one part of the battle. We had to deliver tickets to sponsors, partnering charities, the press, and offices on Capitol Hill all while ensuring the "right" people were at our events. That process was a full time job that drew our resources away from making the show, the fundraiser, the concert, or the conference all we wanted it to be. We searched for products and services available on the market and found nothing that fit the bill. Luckily enough we had some problem solvers and software developers on our roster, so we set about building it ourselves.

Our parent company, started as an Event Production company. Back in 2003 we began creating events from the ground up, beginning with our signature event, The Congressional Blues Festival. This yearly event for several thousand like-minded music lovers is 2 parts music festival, 2 parts fundraiser, and 3 parts enormous fun for everyone involved. The goal of the Blues Festival is to raise money and awareness for American Roots Music by assisting artists in need, and we do that through an extensive network of corporate sponsors, a sixty member Congressional Host Committee, and some supremely talented musicians. As you might imagine, the logistics and ticketing for such an event are difficult, and Event Farm grew out of this effort.

After a few years of using Event Farm, our partners, sponsors, and host committees began to ask if we'd let them borrow it to help manage their own events. We bartered a bit and after a few successful test runs and a whole lot more growth Event Farm is now available for you as well. We are still proud to say that we use Event Farm for all our own events and could not live without it.

Last year we had 5 takeaways this year we have 4 from our time at this year's BizBash NY conference.

1) Photobooths, Photobooths and more Photobooths
We've lost count of how many variations of the modern photobooth we've now seen. This can only mean 1 thing....events like photos.  Why?  They're fun!  And today they are    a powerful way to make your event more social.   The best booths we've seen integrate easily with social media platforms (Facebook, Tumblr, Flickr, Twitter, etc) which allows attendees to share their event experience with their social networks and therefore exposing the event to more people.  We're most inspired by solutions with simplistic interfaces that require limited operator help.   Fun props for attendees to look foolish a must!

2) Planners Love Unique Experiences
Similar to last year, we continue to see event planners incredibly focused on creating unique event experiences.  Obviously this shouldn't be news to anyone.....it's our job as event producers. It's just interesting to see it happening in every aspect of events.  Decor, catering, invitations (preferably electronic), lighting, talent, ice sculptures, even carpeting!  When you think about all the things that go into planning an event its immense.  When planners pay close attention to every detail to create their own unique event experience is when they are most successful and when guests are most inspired.

3) More Events = More Freelancers
You may have seen the piece MSNBC did following our CEO during our time producing events at the RNC and DNC this summer.   That was inspired by MSNBC's research that estimates that the event planning industry will grow by 40% over the next 2 years and Event Planning has become one of the most sought after jobs in the country.  We're already seeing it.  We're also seeing a trend towards more freelancing.  We met dozens of freelance event producers at BizBash.  Organizations and companies are hosting more events and that means that there's more work for planners.   This is opening up more opportunities for Freelancers.  We think this is happening because events are easy easy to compartmentalize into projects so outsourcing event planning makes sense and can save money.   #lovefreelance

4) Can Twitter be a distraction?
We didn't have too much time to engage in the twitter conversation surrounding #bizbash this year but we were surprised this morning when we looked back to catch up and searched #bizbash on Twitter and found a decent amount of tweets but not to the level we expected from thousands of event planners. We haven't fully digested why yet but here's a thought: Maybe everyone was just really busy like us, engaged in personal interactions and didnt have time to tweet?  Could this actually be a sign that the conference was more effective and brought people together for in-person interactions?  Is Twitter potentially a distraction? Hmmm...........

Hopefully you had a great summer!  We wanted to share some thoughts from our most recent work producing events at the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions as we think there are some valuable takeaways.

As you may know, Event Farm was originally developed from our internal frustrations with ticketing and guest registration at the events we produce.   Our struggles drove us to be better.  And most importantly having real event experience proved invaluable when developing the Event Farm platform.   Today, we not only continue to have the same enthusiasm for producing events but we also firmly believe that when we do our software gets even better.

So.....Event Farm dove head first into one of the biggest event opportunities of the year: the 2012 Republican and Democratic National Conventions.   In partnership with Hyper Vocal and Fighter Interactive, Event Farm lead an effort to produce 17 events over an 8 day period branded as Startup Rockon.  You can see some of the highlights on our Facebook Page.   Yea that's more than 2 events a day!   The feedback we got back from all sides was overwhelmingly positive.   We funded 2 companies, engaged thousands, and exposed our brands to millions of impressions.

Here's why we think Startup Rockon was such a success:

 - Our mission was well defined: honor and celebrate America's startup culture.
 - Our branding conveyed that mission well.
 - We targeted our audiences well and were confident we'd have a full house at our events. We did!
 - We leveraged RFID technology for social engagement to reach hundreds of thousands of people
 - We made sure to have fun.

MSNBC shadowed our CEO Ryan Costello to get the inside scoop on what it means to be an event producer and they put together a short video piece you might enjoy.

Hopefully these are helpful takeaways for your Fall events.

Have fun. People like that!

While we didn't set out to answer that question initially, it is now clear that Event Farm will leave its mark on the 2012 Democratic and Republican National Conventions.   Don't worry, we're not crazy enough to think that Event Farm will sway voters per se, but we do believe that a more effective RNC and DNC can give both parties a stronger voice on the campaign trail.

Having been to several political conventions over the years, I've come to know the scene well.   It's an amazing opportunity to interact with our political leaders outside the beltway, the celebrities and A-list parties are great, and the dozens of corporate and non-profit leaders that turn up are inspiring. But for lots of convention attendees the experience turns into a week of chaos, exhaustion and ultimately a waste of time.  Trust me I've been there.   You spend so much time tracking down your tickets to events, finding people to meet up with, and struggling for access to parties that there isn't any time left to actually experience the convention.

We asked ourselves:   How can we make this better?  Can we create mobile apps for attendees to have all their tickets and invites on their phones?  Can we provide event planners a better invitation and ticketing solution? Can we somehow connect hundreds of independent events and thousands of people into a single digital experience?  Yes. Yes. Yes.

So about 8 months ago we began working on a solution. And with the help of our partner, Bloomberg Government, it's becoming a reality.  We have a free software solution for event planners to completely customize their own invitation/ticketing system, distribute tickets in block to sponsors, run will call onsite, etc.  We have free mobile apps (iOS, Droid, and Blackberry) for attendees to download and automatically build their calendar for the week, find their friends, and transfer extra tickets they have.  And of course we've added integrations with Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Yelp.   We really are going to revolutionize the 2012 convention experience and we actually might influence a Presidential election after all.
